2019 Chardonnay
2019 Chardonnay
This Chardonnay was crafted in the style of Chablis, the famous white wine region of northern Burgundy. Chablis is known for producing elegant, mineral-driven Chardonnay in a cool climate, and the cooler vineyards of Santa Ynez Valley provide the perfect conditions to create a similar expression. Chablis has always been one of my favorite styles of Chardonnay, so this wine reflects that inspiration.
The wine was aged in older oak barrels for six months with approximately 10% malolactic fermentation. Using older barrels allows the fruit to remain the focus while contributing only a gentle touch of oak. The limited malolactic fermentation adds just a hint of creaminess without overwhelming the wine’s freshness.
The result is a Chardonnay with bright fruit, vibrant acidity, subtle minerality, delicate oak character, and a light creamy texture. It is elegant rather than heavy, making it a wonderful companion to seafood, roasted chicken, creamy pasta dishes, or simply enjoyed on its own.
